It was with a heavy heart this week that we said our farewells to John 'Spoons' McGuirk, Liverpool's favourite spoon player.
John, 80, who grew up in Bootle, served in the merchant navy as a deckhand before working on the motorways in later years.

He appeared in several films, singing a song in Jimmy McGovern's Heart and striking up a friendship with Ricky Tomlinson.
John was also known for his starring role at each year's Hope Street Feast.
