Merseyside Arts Foundation's Music Development Programme 2013/14
I am delighted to announce that I'll be working with Merseyside Arts Foundation on their 2013-14 Music Development Programme
It is an honour to be working with such a worthwhile organisation on something to recognise new talent in our city. The music scene here is burgeoning and it is wonderful to be able to give some of those new bands and solo artists a helping hand.
The programme aims to give talented up-and-coming young musicians from the Merseyside area the chance to get first-hand experience of the music industry; from inside the recording studio to live performance and to give an insight all the background work that is required to put their first foot on the musical ladder.
Dan Hewitson of Merseyside Arts Foundation said: "We are absolutely over the moon to announce the Echo's music editor Jade Wright as our first judge. With all Jade's knowledge and experience in the music industry we know the bands will really appreciate her advice and will look forward to working with her on the forthcoming project as much as we are."
The deadline for musicians wishing to take part in next year's Merseyside Arts Foundation /Youth Music Project is fast approaching. Applicants aged 16-18 and will be required to audition an original song as part of the selection process. Electronic application forms are to be requested by mailing firstname.lastname@example.org . The closing date for applications is Friday 13 September 2013.
The music development programme is also offering musicians over 18 the chance to take part in a separate component funded by Arts Council England, with the deadline set for 5pm on Friday 27 September.
The chosen artists from the region will get the chance to record their own material at the legendary Parr Street Studios, feature on a special compilation CD and attend various workshops covering all aspects of the music business and get advice from top industry insiders, culminating with a special live matinee show to be held next year at Eric's on Mathew Street.
