WHEN the ECHO launched its search to find an unsigned act to represent us at the Liverpool Music Awards, we were inundated with entries.
But one stood out above the rest.
West Derby musician TreeTop impressed us with his intricate layered harmonies and fresh-sounding demo.

His song Home will work well as a collaboration with Sense of Sound.
"I wrote that song after a 15 hour night shift," explains TreeTop (also known as 25-year-old radiographer Craig Lamb). "It just came to me as I was on my way home from work and I recorded the demo in my living room.
"You can try to force songs to come to you, but for me the best ones just come naturally. The demo sounds quite rough but I recorded myself doing lots of harmonies to give an idea how it would sound with a choir."
TreeTop will now collaborate with the Sense of Sound choir for the red carpet event, performing in front of hundreds of industry insiders.
Awards director Ellie Phillips says: "I'm delighted that Jade has selected Treetop to perform at the ceremony, his sound will be complimented beautifully by the Sense of Sound choir so it will be very atmospheric and very different from the rest of the lineup which is yet to be announced. I love that Jade has picked a complete unknown, it fits perfectly with the ethos of the awards which give a platform to a huge range of Merseyside based musicians."
As well as the performance at the Liverpool Music Awards sponsored by Liverpool City Council, he will win a package of prizes to help launch his career.
He will be pampered by Urban Calm in the Metquarter and have his hair styled courtesy of Andrew Collinge on Castle Street.
Then he'll have a photoshoot with Amy Faith and a videoshoot with Liverpool Live TV.
To help him promote himself he will be given a social media makeover by paulmaloney.net. He'll be chauffeured by rest-relax.co.uk and city bakery sayitwithflours.com will create bespoke cupcakes to mark the occasion. After all that, he'll be able to relax with an overnight stay at Hotel Indigo.
