Reviews of the latest releases from Danny Elfman, T.I. feat Rhianna, and Nickleback

Danny Elfman - Nightmare Revisited - Album

Danny Elfman's wonderful soundtrack to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas has new life breathed into it, and like Sally herself, this beautiful and weird creation of an eccentric genius has qualities that we can't help but love. The marvellously twisted gothic Christmas movie has been re-interpreted by a dazzling group of artists, each bringing something special to the song they perform. Dark and delicious contributors include Marylin Manson, Korn, All American Rejects, Plain White T's and Shiny Toy Guns, and each one is a spookily magical delight, making a whole album that puts the eerie cool back into Christmas music.

T.I. Feat Rihanna - Live Your Life - Single

Beginning with a surprise bit of yodelling from Rihanna that quickly gets under your skin, as it is rapped over by T.I., this is cheerful, life enhancing song reminds us to love the lives we have, rather than wasting time worrying about what we do not have, which is always worth remembering.

Nickleback - Live at Sturgis 2006 - DVD

Unexpectedly exciting film of the ever popular Nickleback live in concert, shows them in their true element, doing what they do best, like penguins doing their balletic living torpedo swimming, rather than waddling across the ice. Their distinctive sound of gravely voiced emotionally charged hard and heavy rock 'n'roll is expertly captured in this movie. Deftly shot and edited footage of intimate extreme close - ups intercut with longs shots, and ecstatic crowd shots makes this a fantastic gig in a box.
