Sound of Guns - Alcatraz
Reviewed by Rikki Wright
Liverpool lads Sound of Guns have a high octane new single out that very much captures the exhilarating spirit of the city, with Andy Metcalfe's riotous vocals, Lee Glynn and Nathan Crowley's searing guitars, John Coley's thwacking bass and Simon Finlay's fiendishly tight drums, Alcatraz'll have you banging your head like Woody Woodpecker without even knowing you're doing it. Alcatraz has already been getting Radio 1 airplay in advance of its official launch gig at Zanzibar on the 29th November, and on i-tunes from December 1st. The few tickets left are going for a mere fiver, so get yourself down to see a band whose career is taking off like a rocket. These are the gigs that people brag about having been at, somewhere on down the line, so catch them while you can still get close enough to see them without needing to watch the big stadium screens.

Sia - Soon We'll Be Found
Reviewed by Rikki Wright
Sia is an odd elfin creature with a massively rich and emotionally charged voice. This utterly addictive song has the power re-enchant the toughest cynic, and bring hopeful cheer to even the most forlorn.
Enya - Trains And Winter Rains
Reviewed by Rikki Wright
Enya does her wall-of-ethereal-sound thing again on this song. It's pleasant enough, but if you wanted me to say why it is different any of her others, such as her classic Orinoco Flow, I'd probably be a bit stuck, other than the public transport and seasonal precipitation based subject matter bringing an unexpectedly mundane feel to the proceedings.
