Heather Small says goodbye to Strictly and returns to singing...

She's just said her farewells to Strictly Come Dancing, and now Heather Small is still making time to play a one off gig at Warrington Parr Hall this month.
She's already sold millions of records, won two Brit Awards and the Mercury Music Prize, but Heather says she's still learning all the time. Her current influences come from the world of jazz.
"The jazz artists that have inspired me are Ella Fitzgerald of course because of the purity and technical ability of her voice, and Louis Armstrong because he single-handedly defined a style with such aplomb," she says. "He is still the standard bearer. I think the genre has influenced my standards as opposed to being a direct influence in my own music."
And she says that the gig will be packed with the old hits.
"I have no new material, and am still deliberating as to what will be in the set so we'll have to see what happens," she laughs.
It has been a momentous summer for Heather - she was heavily involved with handover for London 2012 Olympics.
"I feel honoured that proud has been the anthem for the 2012 games and it's been fantastic to watch team GB do so well," she says. "It's energised the whole campaign."
And aside from the Warrington gig, Heather had been making Strictly her focus.
"Brian Fortuna my partner is fantastic," she says. "A great dancer and teacher. I like to dance salsa because of the Latin rhythm and its energy."
Heather Small plays Warrington Parr Hall on October 25, tickets are £22.50 and are on sale now from www.gigsandtours.com 24 hr cc hotline 0871 2200 260
