The Stranglers will always have a special place in Liverpool's musical history.
On October 1, 1976, they were the first band to play at the opening night of Eric's.
It was the night a scene was born, a night that changed the music world forever. Entry was 60p, and in the audience that night were the young Ian McCulloch and Pete Wylie.
"We played at the opening night over 30 years ago, so we've got fond memories of Liverpool," says bass player Jean-Jacques Burnel.

Three Liverpool bands have been selected to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Oasis and Coldplay and play as part of In The City Unsigned this year, in front of the music industry's big hitters.

It's 11 years since The Man Who went nine-times platinum, and somehow Travis have managed to stay mates along the way.
The Scottish band are still going strong, and they're heading to the Academy tonight to prove it.

WITH their combination of big, bright, bouncy pop tunes and lyrics that cut to the heart, Liverpool band Amsterdam have built an impressive following in the city.
Now at last they're announcing a big Christmas date at the Carling Academy as the last date of a national tour.
I caught up with the band to find out more about the music that's getting them through the week.

THERE are some musicians whose story is easy to tell. They are the men and women for whom it all just falls into place: their sound is easy to describe, their look is stylised and just so, their philosophy drops into a classic, easily defined slot.
Julian Cope is not one of those people. He's much, much, more interesting.
