The iconic Liverpool pub which played host to John Lennon and Freddie Mercury is appealing for local musicians to follow in the footsteps of it famous former guests.
Dovedale Towers, just off Penny Lane, has announced plans to host its own music festival over the August bank holiday weekend.
The Dovestock festival will feature the cream of the local music scene as well as offering up and coming artists the chance to perform in front of a live audience.
Amanda Thomas, of Dovedale Towers, said: "The pub has such a rich musical heritage and we felt it was about time we reignited it.
"The building was formerly a church hall and in 1957 it hosted one of John Lennon's earliest gigs with The Quarrymen.
"And the flat above the pub was once the former home of Queen's Freddie Mercury back when he played with the Liverpool band Ibex.
"The idea behind Dovestock is to give local bands the chance to showcase their music in a historic venue."
