This week we have reviews of the latest releases from Restlesslist, Whitesnake, Sia and and The B-52's.
Restlesslist – The Rise and Fall of The Curtain Club
Amazing sounds punctuate this Sci-Fi Surfy treat from Restlesslist. It’s Pulp Fiction meets Ultra Lounge at Jim Rose’s Circus, with a touch of the Babyshambles ‘Oh yeahs?’attitude, and a whiff of 60’s Calypso – absolute magic…This album is cool, weird, and very very addictive. You will be hearing these tracks on copshows, catwalks, vampire flicks and in the coolest bar in the world, for a long time to come. Dick Dale would be proud… 5/5

Whitesnake – Good To Be Bad
Superior heavy metal from long time charismatic vocalist David Coverdale, and his band of virtuoso musicians, in complex music that is on a technical par with that of jazz masters or classical composers. Metal is easily dismissed by those who just can’t get past the ‘dragons on motorbikes’ fantasy aesthetics, which prevents it from being taken seriously. In truth, some of the lyrics are also a bit preposterous, yet this album is intoxicatingly exuberant and romantic, in unexpected ways, and merits a proper listen.
Put the musical prejudice to one side, and let the wonderfully interwoven sounds into your head and you may be pleasantly surprised. 4/5

Sia – The Girl You Lost
This girl can really belt them out, but tunefully, with passion, and an voice that brings the hair up on the back of your neck. 3/5
Grace Tiede
B-52’s – Funplex
The brand new album from the band that brought ‘Rock Lobster’ into the mass consciousness, way back in 1979, finds them in fine form, still fizzing with lively energy in their instantly recognisable own brand of rocky poppy dance music with a heavy guitar, spacey keyboards, that shouty man and those frenetic girls all adding to the fun. 3/5
