Edgar Jones and Friends - The Masked Marauder
Thrilling stuff this, inventive, enjoyable and intoxicatingly funky.
You’re hooked on the first listen and then you have to keep on coming
back for more.
Cool and groovy sounds and words that have you smiling while you
dance yourself giddy.
Sounds like Astrud Gilberto and her friend Theramin, the space
alien, back when she lived on Moonbase Alpha, or was that just a
dream I once had?
5/5, Rilkki Wright
Ali Campbell and Beverly Knight
U40’s Ali Campbell, with Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, team up
with Beverly Knight for this slice of pure pleasure from of the
masters of British reggae/soul/pop. Lovely emotionally charged
vocals, and a killer rhythm section weave themselves into an
excellent song.
4/5, Josh Green
YOAV – Club Thing
Simple yet sophisticated sound, spoken word, finger clicking and
sweet singing to an insistent tabla drum sound and intricate melody
line. Beautifully done, and surprisingly effective.
4/5, Grace Tiede
Witchita
Tinkly twinkly buzzy swirly synthesiser sounds. Reminiscent of
Kraftwerk, The Radiophonic Workshop, and some of Brian Eno’s work.
Enjoyable fare, if this is your thing.
3/5, Jessie Alison
