Liverpool Sound City launch

Liverpool’s first international music festival and conference set out its stall to the world this week...
Liverpool Sound City will see a host of bands and industry types descend on the city to discuss the future of the music business for four days and nights in May.
By night there will be dozens of parties and gigs, including The Wombats, Reverend and the Maker, DJ Yoda and an unsigned festival featuring new acts coming into Liverpool from all over the world.
Venues confirmed so far include Nation, Alma de Cuba, FACT, Barfly, St George’s Hall, The Lemon Lounge, Zanzibar and Revolution.
Sound City will play a part in the official Capital of Culture celebrations and run right up to the Paul McCartney gig at Anfield stadium on June 1.
The lineup for the launch party included The Rascals, The Delta Fiasco, Ezra Bang and Hot Machine.
Dave Pichilingi, Sound City’s main organiser, says: “We're taking over loads of different venues all within a 10 minute walk of each other. You will have music coming from every doorway in Liverpool’s cultural quarter. You will be able to consume everything from household names to tomorrow’s young hopefuls in over a dozen unique and exciting venues.
“I regularly go to these festivals all over the world like SXSW, Midem and many others. It has been my ambition for many years for Liverpool to have its own festival and conference of this kind. To me it seems obvious.Â
“Much of the greatest music ever made was created in this city or within 30 miles of it. Liverpool is a fantastic party city and I know delegates and music fans from all over the world are going to love the Liverpool experience.
