Today we have the latest releases from The Wombats, HIM and Foo Fighters. Read on, and let me know what you think...
The Wombats - Moving to New York
Another great offering from The Liverpool lads, showing just what all the fuss is about. It’s got bags of energy, masses of their usual charm. It’s been a spectacular year for these mighty marsupials, and as Murph sings “Looks like Christmas came early, Christmas came early for me” he means every word.

HIM – Bleed Well
Powergoths HIM serve up another slice of boisterous horrorladen
Buffy soundtrackish Sabbathy mayhem that sounds exactly like its
occult symbolled bluebottly venus flytrap cd case image. Rip roaring
guitar and a deeply rich vocal. What’s not to like if you like your
gothic rock noisy, fast and melodious?

The Foo Fighters - Long Road To Ruin
Another of those bands with a tragic history, similar to the
formation of New Order after the death of Joy Division along with the
intensely creative Ian Curtis, The Foo Fighters are the band that
carried on after Nirvana died along with their musically iconic
leader, Kurt Cobain. Unfortunately, neither band left behind after
their kings were dead produced music that came close to the dark
magic of the original line-ups.
Long Road To Ruin is alright. It is inoffensive softish rock, not
grungy, not edgy, and devoid of bite or poignance. In short, it’s not
Nirvana, and somehow, that makes it disappointing. I wouldn’t wish
the torment of troubled genius on anyone, and you can’t blame Dave
Grohl for not being the light that shines twice as bright for half as
long, but without Kurt Cobain’s Nirvana brilliance, The Foo Fighters
are a fairly ordinary outfit, who produce forgettable tracks like this.
