Deltasonic party review - The Zutons, The Rascals, The Suzukis and special guests

It's got to be the coolest office Christmas party ever, with sets from the biggest and brightest names on Liverpool's music scene.
The Deltasonic Christmas party - held in aid of Alder Hey children's hospital - was a celebration of great music with collaborations and performances from some very special guests.
The night kicked off with a great set from Wigan lads The Suzukis, followed by rising stars The Rascals.
The Wirral trio, formed out of the Little Flames, played a superb set to the packed Academy crowd, before singer Miles Kane returned for a great cover of Motorhead's Ace of Spades.
All eyes were on The Zutons, for their only Liverpool show of the year.
They didn't disappoint.
Bowling up onstage shortly after 10pm, the hometown heroes gave a blistering reminder of why we've missed them.
"It's nice to see you - it's been ages," grinned singer Dave McCabe, before launching into Valerie. Of course the last time we heard it in the Academy it was a certain Ms Winehouse onstage. This summer she's taken the song around the world, but her Mark Ronson collaboration paled in comparison with the original.
But then again, that's Dave McCabe's gift - he manages to make every line he sings something worth listening to, something worth remembering.
As they rattled through a packed set of greatest hits, the crowd loved every singalong second - with the biggest cheers for perennial favourites Zuton Fever and Why Won't You Give Me Your Love.
The band were clearly loving every minute. Bassist Russell Pritchard couldn't keep the smile off his face, McCabe was giving it his all, Payne's drumming was second to none and glamorous saxophonist Abi Harding was on form.
Later in the evening she showed off her sensational voice in a duet with special guest (and her future sister-in-law) Candie Payne in what became a true family occasion when they were joined for a singalong finale by Howie Payne.
It was the perfect end to a fantastic night, and all in a good cause.
