Hold on to your skinny- fit jeans, The Rascals are back in town.

ECHO and the Bunnymen defined the sound of a generation with their bittersweet lyrics and haunting melodies...

Earlier this week I commented on Miles from The Rascals’ tight trousers.
I stand corrected.
His jeans look like MC Hammer’s baggy pants compared with the finalists in the official tightest trousers in Liverpool Music Week 2007 contest – drumroll please - The Hot Melts and Eugene McGuinness. Please boys – do leave a little to the imagination.

JOE Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are a fantastic band with a rubbish name. They’re one of my favourite bands of the year, and next week they’re back in town for the second time in as many months.

THERE are some bands whose story is easy to tell. They are the bands for whom it all just falls into place: their sound is easy to describe, their look is stylised and just so, their philosophy drips into a classic, easily defined rock’n’roll mould.
Edgar Jones and the Joneses are not one of those bands. They’re much more interesting...

From his early days in the La’s, to forming Cast and then his current acoustic venture, John Power has always been one step ahead...

For a band who called themselves “tired of being sexy”, CSS certainly like to walk on the wild side.
The Sao Paolo six-piece - five electro-punk minxes, one bespectacled bloke – have filthier lyrics than Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White in a swearing competition.

In the next of our series of great Christmas songs recommended by great Merseyside bands we have Little Name talking about Jona Lewie's Stop the Cavalry...

It's got to be the coolest office Christmas party ever, with sets from the biggest and brightest names on Liverpool's music scene.

It’s been a big year in music, with some great - and not so great - albums. Here’s my guide to some of the best, and worst, of 2007.

WHAT a year it’s been in the Merseyside music scene…
From the announcement that the ECHO Arena is to host the MTV Europe Music Awards to Amy Winehouse’s will-she-won’t-she shows, Liverpool was rarely far from the headlines in 2007...

This year there are lots of bands bubbling away under the surface in Liverpool ready to take the world by storm.
