This week's unsigned treat is the lovely Kambourines, read on to find out more, and for a mini-archive of the bands who have occupied the slot over the last few weeks...
The Kambourines have a wonderfully clear and fresh quality to their music, with gorgeous countrified pop-folk songs superbly performed and sung.
To find out more see www.myspace.com/thekambourines.
The Great Northwestern Hoboes got together in 2002 and quickly made a name for themselves. The lads continue to build up a local following by hosting their own monthly night, Olde Time Religion at Zanzibar. Catch them at The Pilgrim on October 19 or at www.myspace.com/greatnorthwesternhoboes.
The Troubadours is the name on everyone’s lips right now. This week they became MySpace featured artists and they’ve already been picked up by Zane Lowe on Radio 1 and Jonathan Ross on BBC 2.
Hailing from Speke and Wigan, they’re taking the country by storm, and all before their debut single, Gimme Love, is released on October 15.
See them at Zanzibar on October 26 or on www.myspace.com/thetroubadoursmusic.
THE Vagabonds burst onto the Liverpool music scene with exuberance, attitude and bags of talent. Hailing from Bootle, Seaforth and Ireland, they’re spreading their punk sound across Liverpool and beyond. See them next Thursday at OXJAM @ Barfly with Go Faster and Elle Sapelle or on www.myspace.com/thevags.
LIVERPOOL duo Thomas Joseph & Murphy shine with intricate guitar work, close harmonies and varied song- writing, ranging from ultimate joy to the depths of despair. The lads met at senior school, aged 15, and would skip class to write songs in Murph’s dad’s shed. Hear them at www.myspace.com/thomasjosephandmurphy
THE Idol Minds have got the world at their feet right now. The Wirral quartet can already count Arcade Fire among their growing army of fans. Check them out at Banned Night at Zanzibar on 20 September or see www.myspace.com/theidolmindsliv for more
Do leave me a message with your suggestions for future ECHO Unsigned Bands of the Week and I'll have a listen...
