Ian Brown, featuring Sinead O’Connor –‘ Illegal Attacks’ Fiction
Records 4/5 Reviewed by Josh Green

This surprisingly melodious thought provoking anti-war protest song
comes from the heart of the legendary Stone Roses front man, Ian
Brown. 'Illegal Attacks' will touch many who rest in boredom or
ignorance of the issues surrounding the current conflict in the
Middle East, and its wider consequences. The ever impressive Sinead
O’Connor’s vocal presence adds to the strength and integrity of its
heartbreaking sound.

Natalie Imbruglia ‘Glorious’ Sony 4/5 Reviewed by Jessie Alison

Ex Aussie soap star and songstress Natalie Imbruglia is back with
‘Glorious.’
The surprisingly good and credible ‘Torn’ comes to mind as the
emotionally vulnerable quality of her voice soars around an uplifting
song about ‘what it feels like when I’m finally smiling on the
inside.’ It’s got an exuberant feel, a bright, jangly sound and a
catchy hook, that might just have you singing along.

Plain White T’s – ‘Every Second Counts’ Hollywood Records 2/5
reviewed by Rikki Wright

Plain White T’s are storming in like a hurricane, on a tide of ‘band
most likely to’s…”
The current single ‘Hey There Delilah’ stands out as probably the
best song on the album, with its slightly plaintive Nirvana meets
Green Day vibe, but there are others, such as ‘Gimme A Chance’ and
‘Figure It Out’ that are pretty much straight down the line Eighties
Preppy Collegeboy Powerpop, which is a little incongruous, and put me
off quite a lot, somewhere in between the two extremes was the Aha
influenced ‘Let Me Take You There,’ which was pleasant, if not very
imaginative. After everything I’d expected from such a hotly tipped
outfit, this was all a bit of a shallow, overproduced, unremarkable
disappointment. Nothing to do with Paul Daniels, but coincidentally,
they could certainly have done with bit of magic to liven the whole thing up…
