Peaches and cream...

CAN you keep a secret? No, neither can Sir Bob’s daughter it seems...

That Peaches Geldof is playing at Korova tomorrow night is the worst kept secret on the Liverpool music scene right now, but what you might not know is that there will be two very special guests this weekend.

DJing in the new restaurant are The Black Rats: A DJ team made up of three girls who go by the names of Tara Rocks, someone called Peaches Geldof and Ruby Stewart, daughter of Scot rocker Rod. If you’ve got a famous old fella Korova is the place to be, it seems.

Downstairs in the band room will be Mexicolas. Tipped as the UK's Queens of the Stone Age, minus the ginger hair, Mexicolas claim to be a band that "men want to be in and women want to be with". Big talk, my friends, particularly if the pictures on the toilet on their MySpace page are anything to go by.

There’ll also be a set from Daisy Riots – three Southport and Liverpool younglings whose sound mixes the Clash and the Libertines, with a few other legends thrown in for good measure.

“We love The Daisy Riots, they like to cause mayhem wherever they go,” says venue promoter Revo. “Their fans regularly join them onstage for the last song and these kids have a lot of fans. Let's just hope they can all fit on the Korova stage.”

The LP are a relatively new band from Chester and Liverpool with an electronic, rocky sound, who will be showcasing material from their newly-recorded album, before jetting off to Japan where they're about to sign a massive recording deal. Let's just hope there's enough money involved to keep them all in hairspray for the foreseeable future, as The LP have hair that would make Amy Winehouse and Russell Brand jealous. Fresh Legs promise to be the surprise package for the night, straight out of Portsmouth and travelling up especially. Also, playing in the new room are Korova's Friday and Saturday night resident DJs Mr Paul, J.A.M.E.S and Enable Mr Porn.“Whenever we've thrown a party like this one we've had the whole upstairs area rammed with people bouncing up and down, dancing on tables and chairs,” says Revo. “We expect this one to be no different – our DJs know how to get a party going.”Best of all, it’s only £5 in. Lauren:
The gig on Saturday night was amazing, must say Fresh Legs were fantastic, a real surprise considering I'd just gone to see The Mexicolas. It was a late start for the Mexicolas but I've gotta say well worth the waiting! One of the best gigs I've seen, these guys are going to be doing big amazing things very soon!

Has Peaches Geldof got to where she is on her own merits or is it because she is the daughter of Sir Bob ?

Hannah Golightly:
My music news is this: I have just made a DIY album and you can buy a copy or listen to a preview on my myspace profile (myspace.com/hannahgolightly) My music views are: Who cares about talentless 'daughters' of talented musicians? Can't they do better than DJing with all that wealth and opportunity and musical genes? Nope? Then they are lazy status-grabbers. Secret: I still get excited if they're around... but that's not the point. The Queens Of Noize really changed things when they ditched their instruments in favour of decks-p.s. I've been to their night in Camden and they are rubbish at mixing etc. Their talent lies in creating a buzz and a bit of excitement. Thank god then for the new genuine female talents- Winehouse etc... Peaches: are you half presenter (like your mum) and half musican (like your dad) is that the reason for DJing of all things?? Peaches the DJ: She asked my ex boyfriend for help DJing at a gig in an art gallery- she doesn't even know what she's doing with decks... to be fair, it seems that none of them do. DJing- is it the new 'playing keyboards' in a band? The new 'I wanna perform without learning how to play anything first' option. I won't be doing that then....
