Knowsley Hall Music Festival - Part 1

Bad weather seems as much a part of the festival experience as iconic performances and endless queues for portaloos...

Running seemed to be the order of the day yesterday, as the crowds dashed, slipped and squelched between the main and MySpace stages trying to see everything.
The main stage highlights included Deltasonic’s newest kids on the block, The Rascals, and of course The Coral.
Pete Wylie had already got the crowd in good voice joining in with Heart as Big as Liverpool, although his chant “We Love Fish” was not so popular.
Over on the MySpace stage Liverpool lads the Maybes? frothed up the crowd with their gritty, rough-edged guitars and Nick Ellis’s charismatic stage presence, while the Black Velvets brought their own delicious brand of rock to shake and stir the audience.
St Helens lads The Loungs brought a taste of summer to the day with their rich four part harmonies and sunny retro vibe.
Indeed, for most of the time the MySpace stage was the place to be. Despite being troubled by some wonky sound, it played host to some of the hottest young bands around, showing just how bright Merseyside’s musical future promises to be.
