Happy Birthday

One of Liverpool’s most famous venues, The Picket, is getting ready for its first birthday party.

The venue that played host to The Las, Happy Mondays, Noel Gallagher, Space, Cast, China Crisis, The Coral, Shack, Pete Wylie, Ian McNabb, Neil Finn, Billy Bragg, Deaf School and thousands of Liverpool bands.
In 2004 the venue was closed down at its premises in Hardman Street, provoking a national outcry.
Two years later, after a high-profile campaign to keep the Picket at its long-established Hardman Street site failed, a new day dawned for Liverpool musicians and artists in Jordan Street.
Last May it re-opened with the support of Elvis Costello and Travis and has continued to promote the best of local talent.
The party over the Bank Holiday weekend, will be one to remember, with sets from Freemaker, The Alphabites, Electric Church Foundation, plus an acoustic set from Amsterdam’s Ian Prowse and a DJ set from The Farm.
