Play a song for me...

Tonight sees a trio of Liverpool’s finest unsigned acoustic musicians taking to the stage in Acoustic Slice, what is quickly becoming one of the most interesting showcases in Merseyside.
Acoustic Slice continues to grow in popularity, reflecting an increasing interest in folk and acoustic music across the region.

Every Monday starts from 8pm, and from 9.30-10.30 there is an open mic slot, where any interested musicians can get up and play two songs. They even have a guitar you can borrow. Regulars who impress are then booked to headline a night with a full half hour set. It’s a wonderfully democratic way to find new talent before the main booked acts begin their sets.
But, it is worth bearing in mind that the quality of musicians is getting better every week, so attending the open mike won't guarantee you a full slot, but it is still definitely worth a go.
Tonight the booked acts who will take to the stage later in the evening are Silje and Thomas Western, who will be joined by regular host and acclaimed Liverpool singer songwriter, Alun Parry.
Silje, originally from Norway and now based in Liverpool, sounds like a cross between Joni Mitchell and a young Bjork. She sings and plays guitar and piano, and occasionally plays with a live band. Highlights promise to be Piano Riff Love and Less Like You.
Thomas Western sings beautiful, soulful folk accompanied by a lyrical guitar. He is definitely one to watch, and his wonderful songs Apples in Summer and Your Front Door are worth going for alone.
Alun also runs an acoustic night on the second Friday of every month at The Pilgrim and March will see the start of nights at the Casa in Hope Street.
Following the sad closure of The Symphony, the night now takes place at the wonderful 3345 Parr Street studios, and best of all, entry is free.
