January 2007 Archives
Wow - it's an exciting day today. We're having a Motown moment - tickets to see soul legends Al Green, the Four Tops and the Temptations go on sale this Friday and we can't wait.
If that wasn't great enough, I've been chatting to lovely Liverpool lads The Alterkicks ahead of their triumphant return next month to play at Korova on Valentines Day. They're busy filming the video for their single Good Luck, which is due to be released in March and by the sounds of it they're having a ball in London. They have given us the top five tracks on their iPods, which will be gracing Friday's music page.
Liverpool lads the Wombats went down a storm when they played the Academy over the weekend. This great picture, taken by Mike Price, shows the band just before they went on stage.
This week sees the welcome return of Liverpool trio and LIPA graduates Peter and the Wolf.
The vocalist/stand-up drummer/double bass line-up, not to be confused with Prokofiev's much-loved classic, will be performing at Zanzibar on February 3.
If you like the whole Norah Jones thing then head down to the Living Room on Feb 6th, at 8pm. Louise Setara is playing a one-off gig, which promises to be something special. She's a new act on Parlophone, 18yrs old and signed to Manhattan/BlueNote in the States, although she's a member of the British travelling community.
Hello!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Echo music. I've just taken over the Echo's music page and we've launched this blog as an interactive way to give up-to-the minute information about music in the area.
As well as the national and international acts who play nearby we're looking for stories on local bands, local events, and so on, so please leave comments to tell me who you are and what you are doing.
I'm new to this whole blogging malarkey, but I'll soon have things up and running properly.
I'm interested in all different kinds of music, and can boast that my playlist has tracks from more genres than I can count! The only big areas not featured are rap and house, but I'm willing to be converted, so send me your top tips.
Each blog I'll list the tracks I can't live without that day - please do the same with your comments and hopefully we can point each other in the right direction!
